The Tokai National Higher Education and Research System is the first public university system in Japan, managing Nagoya University and Gifu University in the central Japan region, Tokai region. Nagoya University is major Japanese public/national research university with six Nobel Prize laureates since 2001. Nagoya University has 10,000 undergraduate and 6,000 graduate students with 3,000 faculty and staff.
